Report Manager - Error 401 unauthorized when generating a report, the account does not have Content Manager and System User roles

Description
- The following error message appears when trying to generate a report within Report Manager:
- Error: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.
- The account does not have Content Manager and System User roles
Environment
- N-able N-central
- Report Manager
Solution
- To resolve this, please do the following:
- Add the Content Manager role:
- Right-click 'Internet Explorer'
- Select 'Run as administrator'
- Browse to the 'SQL Server Reporting Services' web interface - i.e. http://localhost/Reports
- Depending on the OS, select either 'Folder Settings' or the 'Properties' tab
- NOTE: For SQL Server 2008 R2, it is 'Folder Settings', for SQL Server 2008 select the 'Properties' tab
- Editthe appropriate account that you would like to grant Report Manager access to
- NOTE: To access this you would need to run Internet Explorer as an administrator to access this setting, as described in steps 1 and 2 above
- NOTE: If you cannot locate the account then please create a new role by doing the following:
- Select 'New Role Assignment'
- Type the Windows account username in the field provided
- Enable the 'Content Manager' role for the account
- Select 'OK' or 'Apply' to assign the role this account
- Add the System User role:
- Right-click 'Internet Explorer'
- Select 'Run as administrator'
- Browse to the 'SQL Server Reporting Services' web interface - i.e. http://localhost/Reports
- Select 'Site Settings', which can be found in the upper right corner
- Select 'Security'
- Editthe appropriate account that you would like to grant Report Manager access to
- NOTE: To access this you would need to run Internet Explorer as an administrator to access this setting, as described in steps 1 and 2 above
- NOTE: If you cannot locate the account then please create a new role by doing the following:
- Select 'New Role Assignment'
- Type the Windows account username in the field provided
- Enable the 'System User' role for the account
- Select 'OK' or 'Apply' to assign the role this account
