  • Patch Status is failed - Old Driver patches still showing as needed, even though Windows Update in Control Panel is not showing these drivers.

Environment

  • N-able N-central 11 or later

Solution

  • These needed drivers often appear when a third party driver has been installed, or a newer version of a driver was installed. The Windows Update API call is returned to N-able N-central showing the patch is needed. Further, the patch may not correctly include a Patch Product value, which is a problem with the metadata from Microsoft.
  1. Decline the patch manually or via AutoApproval.
  2. Contact support for further options if you are unable to do this (due to very old patch and/or missing Patch Product value).
