Description

  • Drivers are not being installed on the device even if they are approved.

Environment

  • N-able N-central
  • Patch Management

Solution

  • Some driver updates are flagged, in the meta-data we receive from Microsoft (or other vendors), as in need user input and therefor cannot be installed silently by Patch Management.
  • These will be shown as Approved but Not Installed.
  • There are three options to handle these drivers:
  1. Leave driver patch detection on and manually install required driver updates.
    1. The list of available driver updates can be found by going to the Device -> Patch Status -> Status - Click on Approved Patches and it will list all available driver updates.
  2. Decline all driver updates from the SO Level -> By Patch -> Filter by Drivers -> Decline All -> Apply to Children.
  3. Modify the settings of the patch status V2 service and set drivers to not monitored. You will see the missing patches but the monitoring service will not go to a failed status because of this. You can follow this article to make global changes to the Patch Status V2 service, https://documentation.n-able.com/N-central/troubleshooting/Content/kb/Patch-Management-Disable-monitoring-Driver-Updates
