No asset information available when applying a Service Template

Description

  • When trying to apply a Service Template, the following error occurs:
    • No Asset Information Available

Environment

  • N-able N-central

Solution

  1. Check if SNMP is enabled locally on the device.
    • More information on this can be found here.
  2. Ensure that locally SNMP is installed:
    1. Search for Turn Windows features on or off in the Start menu
    2. Enable Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
    3. Select OK
  3. Navigate to the device within your N-able N-central Dashboard
  4. Select Settings> Monitoring Options
  5. Enable SNMP by checking the Use SNMP: option
  6. Ensure the applicable third party software is installed on the machine:
    • Dell OpenManage Server Administrator
    • HP Systems Insight Manager Agent
    • IBM ServeRAID (for RAID-level monitoring)
    • IBM Director Platform agent (for hardware-level monitoring)
    • Intel System Management Software
      • NOTE: For ESXI, ensure that the monitored VMware CIM port is correct (usually 5989)
  7. Re-discover the device, which can be done by doing the following:
    1. Select Actions > Run a Discovery
    2. Select the correct Customer/Site
    3. Select the appropriate Windows Probe
    4. Input the IP Address of the device
    5. Select the SNMP Settings tab
    6. Select the applicable profile
    7. Ensure the SNMP Community String is correct for the customer
      • NOTE: It is usually public
    8. Select Finish
  8. Re-apply the Service Template
