N-able Patch Repository Service stopped and Startup Type set to manual

Description

When looking at the N-able Patch Repository Service in the services snap in, its showing as stopped and the startup type is set to normal. Why is this?

Environment

N-able N-central 10+

Solution

This is due to Patch Data Persistence being disabled on the probe within N-able N-central,. When this option is disabled the service is set to a manual startup type and stopped. Enabling the option will change the startup type to Automatic allowing for the service to start when needed.

You can enable and disable this functionality on the probe by doing the following.

1. Navigate to Administration -> Probes
2. Select the probe
3. Navigate to the caching tab

From here you can change the Patch data persistence settings.
