Description
- How to restore to another device within N-able N-central.
- Restore to another device with Recovery Console.
Environment
- N-able N-central
- N-able Backup
Solution
- Download and install Recovery Console from N-able N-central dashboard under Actions > Download Agent/Probe > Third-Party Software > Recovery Console
- Retrieve credentials for account
- All Devices > select device > Edit > Settings > Backup Management > Retrieve Passphrase
- Select Add in Recovery Console and input credentials from step #2
- Data sources to track window will open; make selections to restore here
- Data sources here are equivalent to data sources in Backup Manager
- Note: Virtual disaster recovery (VDR) involves creating a virtual machine or hard disk from Files and folders and System state datasources
- When performing VDR, it is not necessary to also select the Files and folders datasource
- Next will take you to configure what parts of a datasource to restore
- Note: if you do not choose a Restore to location, Recovery Console will automatically overwrite existing data
- Once data has been selected, select OK
- You will see a pop-up window asking to activate data recovery now
- Yes activates continuous restore mode, which automatically searches for the most recent available good backup and restores it automatically
- No allows manual restore to choose session
- To manually start restore, right-click device in Recovery Console > Force restore
- You will see a pop-up window asking to activate data recovery now
