Install agent on a macOS device

Description
- This article describes how to install an N-able N-central agent on a macOS device.
Environment
- All N-able N-central
- All macOS versions
Solution
- Select the Customer group that the new device is to be added to on the top left drop down box.
- Click on “all Devices” in the Views section.
- Ensure that the “Network Devices” tab is highlighted then click on the ADD button.
- Select More options.
- Under the section “MANUALLY CREATE A DEVICE THAT REPRESENTS AND EXTERNAL WEBSITE OR IP ADDRESS click ADD DEVICE.
- Enter the device name – Select Workstation –OS in the Deviec Class and the current IP Address in the Network Address section. Select Essential or Professional in the License mode section.
- Enter a User name and password on the local iMac.
- Click on the Local Agent TAB and tick the box next to “Install Local Agent”.
- Click SAVE.
- Click on the All devices TAB under views at the top left.
- Click on the name of the iMAC.
- Click on the Settings TAB then Local Agent TAB.
- Copy the activation Key. This can be used during the installation process.
- Click on the Add/Import Devices from the Actions section.
- Click More Options then select macOS.
- Download and run the installer on the local Mac device
- When asked paste the activation key copied from step 13 above into the box the installation will then proceed.
- Note: If trying to install the Mac agent from a USB thumb drive it needs to be formatted with a Mac Native File System for the installer to run
