How to set Take Control Performance Settings

  • This article defines the performance settings/options in Take Control.

Environment

  • N-able N-central
  • Take Control

Solution

  1. Open your N-able N-central dashboard;
  2. Select the intended device;
  3. Click Remote Control Settings > Take Control;
  4. Scroll down to the PERFORMANCE SETTINGS area:
    • When "Optimize desktop settings while in session" setting is enabled the end user may notice a slight change in the resolution of the machine;
    • When "Optimize desktop settings while in session" setting is disabled the bandwidth and performance requirements of the remote session will be increased
    • The "Limit image capture" setting should only be used on older machines or when troubleshooting performance issues related to resource usage;
    • When "Attempt peer to peer connection first" setting is enabled it can add up to 3 seconds to connection time but offers a faster in session performance when connected.
  5. Select the SAVE button.
