Description

  • This article describes how you can reset all Patch Approvals from error time to time due to human or procedural errors.

Environment

  • N-able N-central

Solution

  1. Log in to N-able N-central as the Product Admin.
  2. At the System level, go to Configuration > Patch Management > Approve/Decline Patches > By Patch > Select All > click Next
  3. Change the approval to No Approval (the default state).
  4. Click Approval Pencil again > Apply to Children.
  5. Click Approval Pencil again > Clear and Re-evaluate Device Level Approvals
    • These steps reset any SO, Customer, Site or Device level approvals
  6. Click Next
  7. Acknowledge any EULAs as needed.
  8. Next (if you got the EULA page).
  9. Click Finish
  • All approvals should now be reset.
  • At this point you will want to re-run any Automatic Approval rules.
  1. Go to the System Level (you can see lower level rules here) > Configuration > Patch Management > Automatic Approvals
  2. Select all of the rules and click Run Rule Now
    • This re-establishes your automatic approvals back to the devices.
  • When resetting the approvals, be sure NOT to select Approved for Removal as this will uninstall the patches from all devices.
  • The process of the updated approvals being sent to the devices could take several hours to complete and should be done at a time that would allow the process to complete.
