Description
N-able N-central provides improved security protection through increased validation when users sign in. This validation is provided through Scorpion Software's AuthAnvil solution.
Two-Factor Authentication consists of a combination of a PIN (Personal Identification Number) and a single-use password provided through a security token. The single-use password is a unique identifier that can never be re-used and is almost impossible to duplicate or forge. By adding Two-Factor Authentication to an account, this increased level of security requires that the user sign in to the account with their conventional password and the Two-Factor Authentication credentials as well.
Environment
- N-able N-central version 10.x and newer.
Solution
Two-Factor Authentication Profiles…
Before adding Two-Factor Authentication to user accounts, you must first configure N-able N-central to integrate with AuthAnvil by creating a Two-Factor Authentication Profile. The Profile will include the settings used by N-able N-central to communicate with the security server. The security server will then authenticate any single-use passwords when the user account signs in.
To edit an existing Two-Factor Authentication Profile:
- In the navigation pane, click Administration > Two-Factor Authentication.
- Click the Name of the Profile that you would like to edit.
- Update the fields as required.
- Save.
To delete a Two-Factor Authentication Profile:
- In the navigation pane, click Administration > Two-Factor Authentication.
- Select the check box next to the Profile that you would like to delete and click Delete.
Implementation
When a Two-Factor Authentication Profile is available, user accounts can be configured to use this increased security functionality.
To access N-able N-central using Two-Factor Authentication:
- If Two-Factor Authentication has been activated for this account, type your Passcode.
NOTE: Your Passcode consists of your security PIN (provided by AuthAnvil) and your one-time password generated by your security solution. The PIN and one-time password should be typed as a single character string with no spaces between them.
2. After typing your Passcode, click Log in.
