Environment
- N-able N-central
- N-able RMM
Solution
- To change the discovered name of the Windows device, please do the following (For more information on this, please go here):
- Locally on the device, open Control Panel.
- Navigate to the System section.
- Under the Computer name, domain and workgroup settings section, select Change settings.
- In the System Properties window, select Computer Name tab.
- Select Change....
- In the textbox titled "Computer name:", enter in the new name for the device.
- Select OK.
- Select OK.
- In N-able N-central :
- Navigate to the device view.
- Settings >Properties.
- Uncheck Use Discovered Name.
- Enter the new name of the device.
- Save.
- N-able N-central always uses the original discovered name of a device for data consistency, but will record new information for the device. This option allows accommodation for device name changes without impacting data consistency.
