Description
- You can set up custom device properties that can be applied to devices based on their class or operating system, or the permission level at which the custom device property was added.
- You can add the custom device property at the Product Administrator, Service Organization, and Customer level. For example, if you add the custom device property at the Product Admin level, it is added to all the customers under the Product Admin level. If you add the custom device property at the Service Organization level, it is added for all of the customers under that SO. If you add the custom device property at the customer level, it will only be added to that customer.
- You can add the custom device property at the Service Organization and customer level. For example, if you add the custom device property at the Service Organization level, it is added for all customers within and below that level. If you add the custom device property at the customer level, it is only added to that customer.
Environment
- N-able N-central version 10.0 or higher
Solution
To add a custom device property
Tip: | Click >> to move all of the items from the left column to the right or << to move all of the items from the right column to the left. You can also use Ctrl-click to deselect an item from either column. |
- In the navigation pane, click Administration > Custom Device Properties.
- Click Add.
- Select the type of custom device property to be created from one of the following:
- Date Type - allows you to select a calendar date.
- Text Type- allows you to type textual information.
- URL Type- allows you to type a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) or web page address.
- In the Property Name field, specify a descriptive name for the device property.
- In the Default field, type (or select) a default value for the text, URL, or date, which will be displayed beside the device property name.
- Under Apply To, select the Operating System to which you want the custom device property applied.
- Click > to move the operating systems to the Selected Operating System column.
- Select the Device Classes to which you want the custom device property applied.
- Click > to move the classes to the Selected Device Classes column.
- Click Save.
Tip: | Create your Custom Device Properties at the highest available level (System or SO). This allows your entire environment to use them as any Filters using it will only be able to see the Custom Device Property if it can access that level. So a property made for a customer will not show up in a filter when viewed at another customer, but if the custom property is created at the SO or System level it will be available to all SOs and Customers. |
