High CPU use with Take Control on N-able N-central (formerly Take Control)

Description

• During Take Control (formerly Take Control) sessions, the remote device's CPU is heavily taxed by dwm.exe or the Take Control agent, is there an option that can lower the CPU use?

Environment

• N-able N-central 10.2+
• Take Control (formerly Take Control)

Solution

1. Login to your N-able N-central dashboard;
2. Select the Device;
3. Click on Remote Control Settings;
4. Click on Take Control;
5. Under Performance Settings, enable Limit image capture;
6. Save these settings;
7. On the top right side of your N-able N-central UI click the Add Task button and choose Update Asset Info on the device;

• The new settings should apply shortly (although please note that this is not always an immediate procedure).
