Description

  • Hardware Monitoring of HPE proliant dl380 Gen 10 or later using SNMP and the HPE System Management Agent
  • HP monitoring services are Misconfigured/Stale

Environment

  • N-able N-central all versions

Solution

  • The HPE "Systems Management Agent" is an optional service of the "Agentless Management Service" that enabled in-band/OS based SNMP. As this is an optional service it is not enabled by default.

  • Information on the "Agentless Management Service" is available in page 272 of the "HPE iLO 5 User Guide" https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=a00018324en_us

  1. Install HPE Systems Management Agent via the Agentless Management Service.
  2. Install driver updates for Agent Mangement Service and be sure to choose enable for any prompts regarding the Systems Management Agent.
  3. Discover the device Using SNMP in N-able N-central and apply the template. Actions > Run a Discovery (use SNMP).
OR
  1. Discover the ILO IP address. Actions > Run a Discovery (use SNMP).
  2. If unsuccessful, Increase timeout by adding SNMP credential with max timeout and max retries (10000 ms, 10 retries).
  3. Apply the HPE template.
  4. If services are not monitoring successfully, try increasing the timeout and max retries via Settings > SNMP.
