Description

  • You're looking to set up a recurring downtime window through a rule

Environment

  • N-able N-central

Solution

If you're looking to set up a recurring downtime window, your best bet is to set the window up within a rule, ideally at the SO level. Creating the rule at the SO level will allow you to select which customers and/or sites to which the window is applicable.

NOTE: These steps assume that you're looking too apply your new downtime to every single device (workstations/laptops AND servers AND switches AND routers, etc.). If you're looking to select only a couple devices or device classes, you'll need to select the appropriate filter in step 6. More information on filters can be found in the N-able N-central Online Help
  1. At the SO level, expand Configuration
  2. Expand Monitoring
  3. Select Rules
  4. Select Add
  5. Give your new rule a name and a description
  6. Under the Device to Target tab, move the [SO Name] Devices filter from the Filters box on the left to the SelectedFilters tab on the right, where [SO Name] is the name of your Service Organization
  7. Use the Show Devices option on the right to confirm that all applicable devices are being selected
  8. Select the Maintenance Windows tab
  9. Click the Add button and then select Downtime to create a new downtime window
  10. When you've configured the Maintenance Window to your liking, click Save at the bottom of the dialogue box
  11. Select the Grant Customers & Sites Access tab
  12. Use the drop-down at the top to determine whether you'd like N-able N-central to automatically apply the new rule to any future Customers OR Sites OR to both when they're added
  13. Scroll through the list and select to which Customers and/or sites you'd like to apply the new rule
  14. Finally, click Save
  15. Your devices should be placed into downtime when your window rolls around
