Description
When clicking on an Take Control link in N-able N-central , Google Chrome does not launch the Take Control viewer, or offer a protocol handler to use.
Environment
- Google Chrome
- N-able N-central 10.2+
Solution
You may have previously declined the protocol handler when attempting to launch Take Control. Chrome does not have an option in its UI to change this setting, and needs to be manually edited in configuration files.
- Close out of Chrome, and close all background Chrome.exe processes.
- Open the following path in a text editor: C:\users\[username]\AppData\Local\\Google\Chrome\User Data\Local State.
- Search for the string mspancsxvp.
- Expected pattern: "mspancsxvp":true
- Change to: "mspancsxvp":false
- Save and re-launch Chrome.
- Open Take Control again, and it will launch in the viewer.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue:
- Uninstall Google Chrome.
- Use a product like CCLeaner to clear out any registry entries.
- Reinstall Google Chrome.
- Clear the Cache.
- Try to re-launch Take Control.
