Description

  • A feature update for windows 10 has been installed but there was no prompt to users asking for permission to reboot.
  • There's also no maintenance window for patch reboot configured to the device.

Environment

  • N-able N-central
  • N-able RMM
  • Windows 10 Operating System
  • Patch Management

Solution

  • Microsoft patches classified as "upgrades" may require a reboot during their installation.
  • These reboots are part of the actual installation process of the patch and cannot be scheduled or interrupted by N-able N-central/RMM Patch Management.
  • When approved for install, the reboot associated to patches in the Upgrade classification (Such as the Anniversary 1607 update) will happen during the installation phase of your maintenance window.
NOTE: Future releases of Microsoft's "Feature update" will have the same behavior and will reboot the device upon installation.
