Exchange database monitoring incorrect for the Information Store

Description

  • Exchange database Information Store service is reporting incorrect values for the information store

Environment

  • N-able N-central

Solution

The Exchange information stores are WMI based services.
The local Windows Agent will pull it data for the Exchange information stores Service from WMI.

To Verify the Information Provided within WMI
  1. Open 'wbemtest' on the device
  2. When the wbemtest window opens Click on 'connect'
  3. On the Next screen in the name space field make sure 'root\cimv2' is the namespace and click on 'connect.
  4. Then click on 'Enum Classes'
  5. On the next screen select recursive and click on 'ok'.
  6. Scroll through the classes until you see you see
Win32_PerfFormattedData_ESE_MSExchangeDatabase

7: Select 'Win32_PerfFormattedData_ESE_MSExchangeDatabase' and then click on instance
8: Select the information store instance and review the value for the appropriate counters. Example: databasecachepercenthit
If this value is reported by the counter matches then N-able N-central is reporting as it should be.
If the Value does not match N-able N-central . Wait for 15 minutes does the N-able N-central Value change.
If it does not change and you feel WMI is report incorrectly you can try resyncing WMI on the device or contact Microsoft as to why Exchange is not updating WMI as it should be.
