Description

  • Edit backup data sources from Backup Manager even when a profile is applied to the device
  • Can't edit backup data sources in Backup Manager because it has a message saying it has been locked by an administrator

Environment

  • Cove Data Protection
  • N-able N-central

Solution

  • Edit profile to keep local settings
    • In N-able N-central:
      1. Go to Cove Data Protection > N-able Backup > Profiles
      2. Select profile to edit
      3. Go to Data sources tab
      4. Click dropdown list next to data source to edit > Keep local settings (Do not overwrite the device)
      5. Save profile
    • In N-able Backup standalone:
      1. Log into Backup & Recovery Web Console
      2. Click on Backup profiles in left-hand menu
      3. Select profile to edit
      4. Go to Data sources tab
      5. Click dropdown list next to data source to edit > Keep local settings (Do not overwrite the device)
      6. Save profile
  • Profiles apply in 15-30 minutes, or when the Backup Service Controller restarts, whichever comes first
