Description

  • TPM has been disabled from the BIOS and on boot I was presented with a challenge for a Recovery Key.
  • The Key provided does not match when I enter it into N-able N-central .

Environment

  • N-able N-central 12.2 SP1 and later.
  • Disk Encryption Manager

Solution

  • When TPM is disabled from the BIOS, Microsoft considers this to be the same as changing out a hard drive.
  • As a result, it will not release the key used by TPM.
  • To continue, please run the Disk Encryption Report from N-able N-central to be provided with the correct Recovery Key to enter on the device.
    • Manually retrieval from the N-able N-central UI will not work in this situation.
