Device Memory Information Showing Up As SNMP Disk Service

Description

  • Most devices store both disk and memory information in the same SNMP OID location. Because of this, sometimes Memory information can be mapped to instances of the Disk service in N-able N-central .

Environment

  • N-able N-central

Solution

If your device has Disk service instanced labeled "Cached memory" or "Shared memory", these can be safely removed from the device. As they are actually reporting on Memory information, the thresholds used for disk information are not appropriate. These OIDs are correctly monitored using the "Memory (SNMP)" service.
