Description
- N-able N-central is not currently able to be customized to listen to traffic on different ports other than the standard ports 80 and 443.
- This article describes the process required to use a non-standard port, in conjunction with your own firewall, for probes and agents connecting to N-able N-central.
Environment
- N-able N-central
- Public IP Address shared by multiple servers
Solution
- On your firewall, create a port forward from the new external port (for example, 4433) to the N-able N-central server on port 443.
- Log in to N-able N-central as the ProductAdmin.
- At the System Level, SO Level or Customer Level, go to Administration.
- Go to Defaults > Appliance Settings.
- In the Communication Settings tab, edit the Port Number field with the new external port number (for example, 4433).
- Select Propagate (next to the Port Number field).
- Click Save.
Notes:
- Allow sufficient time for all the devices to check in and receive the new port number before disabling access to N-able N-central through port 443.
- Any device that does not pick-up the new port number require a manual reinstall of the Agent/Probe.
