Description

  • N-able N-central is not currently able to be customized to listen to traffic on different ports other than the standard ports 80 and 443.
  • This article describes the process required to use a non-standard port, in conjunction with your own firewall, for probes and agents connecting to N-able N-central.

Environment

  • N-able N-central
  • Public IP Address shared by multiple servers

Solution

  1. On your firewall, create a port forward from the new external port (for example, 4433) to the N-able N-central server on port 443.
  2. Log in to N-able N-central as the ProductAdmin.
  3. At the System Level, SO Level or Customer Level, go to Administration.
  4. Go to Defaults > Appliance Settings.
  5. In the Communication Settings tab, edit the Port Number field with the new external port number (for example, 4433).
  6. Select Propagate (next to the Port Number field).
  7. Click Save.

Notes:

  • Allow sufficient time for all the devices to check in and receive the new port number before disabling access to N-able N-central through port 443.
  • Any device that does not pick-up the new port number require a manual reinstall of the Agent/Probe.
