Change agent/probe communication settings

Description

  • Configure the agent and probe communication settings to verify that the agent and probes can communicate to the N-able N-central server.

Environment

  • N-able N-central

Solution

  1. Go the level that you want to apply the change to (System, SO, or Customer level).
  2. Go to Administration > Defaults > Appliance Settings > Communication Settings
  3. Add server's public IP or FQDN
  4. Verify if the protocol is correct
  5. Verify if the port number is correct
  6. Type the Proxy String which must be a valid network address
    • Both authenticating and non-authenticating proxies are supported
    • For authenticating proxies, the following are examples of proxy strings:(only applicable if your customer is behind a proxy or firewall)
    • username@hostname:port
    • username:password@hostname:port
    • domain_name\\username@hostname:port
    • For not-authenticating proxies, the following are examples of proxy strings:
      • hostname:port
      • domain_name\\hostname:port
  7. Select Propagate
  8. Select Save
  • NOTE: be cautious when editing the default Communication Settings as significant problems can occur if incorrect settings are applied
  • Any modifications made to Communication Settings will not be applied until you select save.
