Description
- This article describes how to change or update the N-able N-central IP address or other network configuration.
- Agents and Probes rely on the ability to connect to the N-able N-central Public IP address.
- If you do this in the wrong order you will lose connectivity to all agents and probes and will need to either re-deploy agents and probes or manually re-configure them.
Environment
- N-able N-central
Solution
- Update N-able N-central FQDN/IP (within N-able N-central ):
- To update the Public IP address and FQDN of your N-able N-central server:
- Go to System Level > Administration > Mail Network Settings > Network Setup. Update your network configuration as needed;
- Agents and Probes will start checking in to N-able N-central when they receive the updated DNS record.
- Update Agent/Probe Communication Settings
- Ensure as many agents and probes as possible are turned on and communicating with the N-able N-central server.
- To ensure that any currently offline devices are able to get the new configuration it is recommended to ensure that an overlap period for the IP/FQDN is in place to point to the correct N-able N-central server via A-records and CNAME through your DNS/ISP.
- Without this forwarding you may need to reinstall any agents/probes that aren't communicating after the change has happened.
- Update the IP address that agents and probes use to communicate with the N-able N-central server:
At the SYSTEM level: Select Administration > Defaults > Agent & Probe Settings (on older systems, this may be "Appliance Defaults").
- Add the new IP address.
- Delete the old IP address.
- Put a check mark in the Propagate box.
- Select Save.
- Agents and Probes will start checking in to N-able N-central with the new IP address.
