Description
Partners may find themselves unable to connect to the DB instance using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Configuration Manager as the connect button is greyed and the server name cannot be found.
Launching MSSQL Server Management Studio works fine and can connect to the exact same instance using the Database Engine without any issues.
Environment
All N-able Report Manager EnvironmentsMSSQL / SSRS environmental issues.
Solution
We can get more information by launching MSSQL Server Management Studio
Change the drop-down box named Server Type
This currently shows : Database Engine , change it to to Reporting Services
Click Connect.
This should allow a connection attempt to SSRS and return an error which we can trace via SQL / SSRS logs.
As this is relating to the database environment, we would have to review this error and troubleshoot via the regular.
In the example where this behaviour was noticed, a clear WMI error appeared for which the following article regarding resync and rebuild of WMI resolved the problem.
