Assign Probes to Sites

Description
Probes are used to deploy agents to customers' devices (servers, desktops, laptops etc) and are required for monitoring all network devices. When you install a probe for a customer or site, the probe is available only in that location by default. Using probe sharing, you can share this probe with other sites associated with that customer or site.
For example, customers with a principal headquarters and smaller remote offices can install a probe at the headquarters office and share it with the smaller remote offices if these locations are connected using a VPN or reside on an MPLS network.
Environment
- N-able N-central 10 and later
Solution
To share a probe between customers or sites:
- In the navigation pane, click Administration > Probes.
- Select a probe and click Assign Probe.
- In the Assigned Probes window, under Monitoring, locate the customer identified as Enabled and click the down arrow to display the associated sites.
- To make this probe available for associated sites, move the Monitoring, Discovery, and Caching sliders to On.
- Click OK to save the configuration.
Monitoring: Allows the probe to monitor devices on the site.
Discovery: Allows the probe to schedule and execute discovery jobs on the site.
Caching: Allows the probe to host patches and miscellaneous N-able N-central files on the site.
If you remove a shared probe from the customer level for any reason, all features related to the probe are removed or disabled.
