Description

Your VMWare server's services are in a Misconfigured state with error citing: 102 Unable to connect to VMware services - connection information may be incorrect

This article applies to VMWare

Environment

N-able N-central

Solution

This issue is most likely caused by incorrect Device credentials.

You can verify this by doing the following:

  1. On the Probe, go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\N-able Technologies\Windows Software Probe\log

  2. Open the following log file in Notepad: VMware.log.

  3. Search for: Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password.

If you find it in the log, you should also see the following:

taskID: 628442690

VMware Server : 10.125.100.114 --- Logging in to vmWare server: 10.125.100.114 as user: Qk9YTExDXHR

VMwareServiceModule Caught exception connecting to VMware service: Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password.

If this is the case, then the User Name and Password need to be updated on the device.

To update Device credentials on the device in N-central please follow these steps:

  1. Click into Device Details > Settings > Properties tab.

  2. Under Credentials, update your User Name and Password.

  3. Click Save.

Should you need to alter the credentials on your ESXi host, we recommend you consult VMware documentation and the appropriate help system for your version.
